Recovering data from mistakenly initialized volume using directory backups

Hi,

I am starting this topic on behalf of a friend whose 12 TB Sarotech CyberNetor RAID5 volume was initialized mysteriously by a Western Digital utility somewhat automatically possibly after a auto reboot that followed a power cut. This enclosure contains 5 ea. 3TB disks and was configured as a RAID5 volume by hardware switches. This volume was then initialized as a 12 TB Mac OS Extended volume using Apple's Disk Utility. It was full of 10 TB of data. One morning, when he started the computer (a Mac Pro with 12-cores running OS X 10.9.5), my friend observed that the name of the volume was changed to "My Book" (this is why I am assuming the initialization was done by some Western Digital utility) and contained 0 files. Luckily my friend had the Directory Backup function of TechTool Pro 7 active. We can see that TechTool Pro 7 has 3 recent directory backups under the original name of the volume, which was "Cyber Netor 12 TB".

Besides this accidental/mysterious initialization of the volume, nothing has been done on the volume. What are his chances of a full data recovery? What would be the best procedure to save his data using Tech qTool Pro and these backed up directories?

Best Regards,

Refik Telhan
