eDrive visible as hard disk

Recently installed TTPro 9 eDrive on Macbook Pro running Mac OS Sierra 10.12.4 appears on the desktop as a visible hard disk.
I could be be mistaken, but I do not recall ever seeing this phenomenon with eDrives on previous Mac operating systems.
Is this normal?
