Because I upgraded Sierra to the latest version (10.12.5), I deleted my old eDrive and created a new one. When I restarted with it I noticed that it was taking a long time to load, and thought there may be a problem with it. I restarted with the system, which also took a long time to load. I ran Disk Utility, which found a problem with the partition map. I ran Partition Repair in TechTools which got to a point where it said the repair might wipe and reformat the drive! I tried System Restore with Time Machine, which, as I thought, didn't fix the problem. Is there anyway around this, or am I now going to have to buy an external drive to backup my whole system on before wiping the HD?
I had a problem before when I first upgraded to Sierra, which I discussed here. I was having problems creating an eDrive at all then, and at first it created a partition called eDrive, but failed to put anything in it. I cannot delete this partition either with TechTools - which doesn't see it - or with Disk Utility and am stuck with it. I had to rename it to 'eDriveEmpty' because Time Machine couldn't back up two partitions called eDrive. Could this all be part of the same problem?
