Volume rebuild failed in External Hard drive

I have an I mac with a myBook external storage drive . I have it partitioned . One side is for time machine backups . the other is for document and file storage

Checkmate reported a Volume Structure error in the Time machine section so I tried volume rebuild and after a time got failure .
what is the next best course of action ? The other side of the partition is OK
