TT8 crashing during tests

Recently installed TT8 (v8.0.1) crashes (reliably) during Surface Scan portion of Check Computer suite. All other tests seem to run OK and give passing results at present. Anyone else having similar issues? I have submitted a couple crash reports on this.
Current config: MacPro 2x2.8GHz Quad-Core Xeon, 14GB RAM, OSX 10.9.5
