Seagate 8TB ext HD (APFS) external hard drive, running Mojave 10.14.4 on MBP 2018
What happened: The external hard drive fell off the desk and next day I heard grinding.
Result: Mojave's disk utility says HD is "uninitialized" and does not see any partition.
First time I have ever used this program, as an FYI.
I ran the surface scan and every block I checked (I didn't have days to go through 10TB of blocks) came back as bad but with no file name listed.
The partition map results said, "no verification errors encountered"
I am 22 hours into Partition Repair and I am still on the "verifying partition map", the first step. Is this because it is such a big hard drive? Would an error message appear saying the hard drive is not going to be readable or will the green circle in the middle of the page just keep going around and around? I wish there was a progress bar of some sort! Thank you.
